Sun Safety Tips
• The first, most important sun safety tip is to carry a good sunscreen as an essential protection shield. You should avoid any spray, powders, or SPF 50+ products containing oxybenzole, vitamin A (retinyl palmitate) and added insect repellent. You may carry any sort of water resistant broad-spectrum cream that provides ultimate UV ray protection, and SPF 30+.
The best option is full sleeved shirts, but you may also wear regular beach shirts, hats, shorts or pants. Do not forget sunglasses because they are not just a fashion accessory, but also prevent cataracts by protecting your eyes from the sun. Next, find or make a shade and keep infants inside to protect them. Infants have insufficient tanning pigments (melanin) to protect their skin. Try to go under the sun at early morning or late afternoon, when the sun is lower and the impact of UV rays are less severe. Avoid going out at mid-days because the sun is directly overhead and burning hot.
